How do you think Matt Shaw should be used? I thought for sure he was the third baseman for the foreseeable future. Signing Alex Bregman for $35 million AAV for the next five years wasn't necessary. Now Shaw will get some starts here or there on the infield, but unless there is an injury he's going to get most of his reps in the outfield.
If they let Nico Hoerner walk after 2026 I guess it works out and Shaw can play second base [his original position] next year and going forward, but I'd rather they keep Hoerner. Just felt like an odd move by Jed Hoyer to still want Bregman after missing on him last year and seeing what Shaw looked like at third base.

If their actual plan is to play Shaw at second base next year, then just let him play second in Iowa all year. Giving him 200 at-bats as a backup third baseman and part-time right fielder is going to just kill him. He, like every young player, needs regular playing time.
