Erik Neander crushed the trade deadline. He added Freddy Peralta from the Mets, a move that took on greater significance when McClanahan went down again. Peralta should be the #2 starter in the playoffs if McClanahan can’t return. Neander also traded for Liam Hicks, making for an enormous upgrade at a dead spot behind the plate. Hicks has a .389 OBP since the trade, and that makes up for most of his deficiencies as a receiver and thrower.
