The league wants to make the playoff expansion it got in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season a permanent part of the baseball landscape. Remember, a year ago, before SARS-CoV-2 changed our lives, there were leaks of proposals that would expand the playoffs to seven teams in each league. MLB loves large playoffs."
