One simple way of looking at this? The Brewers are fourth in singles and ninth in walks, putting a lot of runners on first base. They have the third-highest groundball rate in baseball. Over the weekend against the Dodgers, the Brewers hit 25 singles, drew nine walks, were hit by a pitch, and did not ground into a single double play. Their double play rate is 7.0%, second-best to the Cubs at 6.1%. Both those figures are among the lowest since the AL joined the NL in tracking double plays in 1939.
