This all just adds to my conviction that the trade deadline is going to be moved, maybe all the way to August 31, at least to August 15. Teams want more time to make these decisions, and there’s no natural lobby against that desire that has any input. Later trades are a much better story for MLB than “they picked up the World Series MVP on waivers for nothing,” which is in play under the current system.
